Race For the Cure 2008

On Saturday October 11th I walked in the Susan G. Coleman Race for the Cure. My team was "Municipal Feat", sponsored by the Arkansas Municipal League. I arrived downtown at 6:45 and met up with the rest of my team. There were about 46,000 ladies racing for the cure. It wan an unbelievable feeling to be in the midst of so many women, so passionate for finding a cure for breast cancer. We took the 5K pretty slow, stopped and visited with lots of folks and had an awesome morning.

WOO PIG SOOIE

  • Saturday was the first Razorback game of the season. We left home around 9:30. We stopped in Russelville and ate at CJ's Burger Barn. The cheeseburgers and fries were awesome. We definitely will be stopping there again.
When we got to Fayetteville we had to find a place to get Marvin's hair cut. We took him to REGIS in the mall. One would think it would only take a few minutes to get a teenage boys hair cut. WRONG!!! He had a Rod Stewart crossed with Duran Duran looking male hairdressing cutting his hair. It took 55 minutes to get it perfect! I swear he had three different hair cuts from the time he started till he finished. When the hair dresser got out the flat iron and started using it on Marvin, Carson and I had to leave because we were laughing so hard. After it was all said and done, his hair looked great.
We made it to the stadium around 4:30 and Marvin and I hit the snack shack. I had popcorn and he had a funnel cake. YUM!YUM! Kick off was 6:00 and we played horribly. In the end we did win and I guess that is all that matters. Next Saturday the game is here in Little Rock at War Memorial. GO HOGS!

    Meet Marvin

Marvin is our 16 year old exchange student from Germany. He will be living with us for the next 9 months. He is a junior at England High School. He is a very intelligent young man, and according to him very talented in football. Looks like in addition to all our Razorback games we will also be attending all the Lion's games to watch our Marvin!

    Home Sweet Home

I love my house! I never wanted an older home until we looked at this one. While we were house hunting Carson and I were truly divided on what we were looking for. I wanted new and modern he wanted old and distinguished with "character." We absolutely could not agree on anything we had seen.

One afternoon we decided that since we had increased our limit on distance from work, we would come out and look at this house. When we walked around looking at all the crazy painted rooms, we could both see what potential this house had. Since moving here in February 2007 we have painted, painted and painted some more, or should I say - I have painted. When we moved in the dining room was school bus yellow, one bedroom was orange, one navy blue and the other purple. Now the dinning room is aqua blue, and the bedrooms are shades of green and yellow.
Our next project for this fall is the kitchen. Nothing major just a "freshen up". Painting the cabinets and door pulls. Of course I do procrastinate so it become a winter job...

    Vacation

On July 4th Carson and I along with our friends, Adam and Caroline Prestridge set out on our drive from England to Myrtle Beach. We drove all morning, all afternoon, and pretty much all night. We detoured and drove through the Smokey's and stopped for dinner in Spartinburg, S.C. at the Beacon Drive-In. It took about 20 hours to get there!
While in Myrtle Beach we visited some pretty cool places, my favorite being Brookgreen Garden. We also went to Charleston and went to the South Carolina Aquarium and toured Magnolia Plantation. (I will try to upload some photo's later.) In all we were gone 9 days and had a great time with our friends.
